The Fingal Centre runs a number of baby massage, stress management and parenting programmes throughout the year, providing support and information to parents of children of all ages.

The Active Parenting Service (APS) is designed to encourage parents to play an active role in their child’s development and to increase parental involvement in their children’s education and well-being.

The APS promotes positive parenting by raising awareness of family needs and involving parents in their children’s lives. The programme plans, organises and implements initiatives and targeted programmes to support, empower and resource parents to develop their skills.

Parenting support is provided in a group setting, through parenting programmes and also through one-to-one sessions. The APS provides courses on Baby Massage, Stress Management and Parenting Skills.

Parenting programmes are broken into three groups:

  1. Parents of toddlers
  2. Parents of young children (6 – 12 years)
  3. Parents of teenagers

The APS also carries out pro-active parenting work in local schools on parenting and related issues with young people. The Living Skills drug and alcohol awareness programme is currently being delivered in St Vincent’s Boys School. The programme works in conjunction with other family support services in the wider community.
